The fourth ISTA Asia Pacific Packaging Symposium was hold on October 24 in the
Dusit Thani Manila Hotel located in Manila, Philippines.

Prior to the ISTA Packaging Symposium, the Asia Packaging Network (APN) International Packaging Research and Innovation Symposium was hold in the same venue during 22-23 October.

Both events were focus in the latest developments in packaging, studies and researches regarding materials and design innovation.

During the ISTA Asia 2019 Symposium the attendees had the opportunity to listen to recognized experts in the packaging industry. The highlighted topic during the presentations was the acceleration tests as a vital part of load safety during transport. Some of the experts who made reference to this topic were:

  • PK Ang, Group Executive Director of Newton Research Center who talked about the journey of a pallet.
  • Donnie Burgos, Packaging Support Manager of Uniliver Philippines with a presentation about packaging testing and its relevance in product safety.
  • And Mr. Carlos Mora, Sales Manager of Safe Load Testing Technologies who presented a business case regarding the stretch film optimization for a manufacturer of beer using testing technologies for load unit safety.

In the course of his speech, Mora showed to the audience how we helped a multinational beer producer to optimize their tertiary packaging using testing technologies.

Within the testing technologies used for this project, highlights the new innSlide Boomerang designed within the TranSafeLoad project.

The Boomerang Horizontal Stability Tester

This solution is the world´s most compact equipment for acceleration tests which can perform tests according to the EUMOS 40509 test method.

The use of this method allows companies to measure the rigidity and stability of a load unit. The test consists in accelerating or decelerating a load as it happens inside a truck during transportation, getting the same behavior on the load during the test and in real life.

Afterwards, we can simulate and measure the deformation and stability thanks to the innSlide Vision Pro artificial vision system. A leading and unique program in the market applied to transport simulation technologies, that includes a high-speed artificial vision camera and software to record and analyze the results in real time, generating an automatic report that show the deformation of the unit load at every moment. Thus, we can determine if the load is going to resist the accelerations and decelerations suffered during transportation or if there is a risk of tip over or collapse.

As a result of this real case study, the beer producer saved more than 60.000€ in tertiary packaging and reduced in 60 Tons its CO2 footprint.

Furthermore, both innSlide Boomerang and its larger version, the horizontal stability tester, allow companies to:

📦 protect their goods

💰 save on unnecessary costs

🚚 eliminate obstacles to trade

🌱 be more sustainable

Through our participation in the ISTA Asia Pacific Symposium, we wanted to bring our knowledge and consolidate our image to Asia Pacific, where we already installed two innWave pitch&roll equipment.

Following our active participation in packaging global industry, and as we already have done in ISTA Forum Denver, ISTA Europe and ISTA China this year, Safe Load Testing Technologies were Silver sponsor of the event, for second time, as we were in ISTA Asia Pacific 2017 in Bangkok.

At Safe Load, we have been at the forefront of the most groundbreaking transportation simulation solutions for two decades. If you are interested in some of our testing technologies don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be pleased to assist you.
