At Safe Load Testing Technologies, our product families cover a wide range of mechanical testing and transportation simulation applications. But some testing challenges go beyond the solutions in our product portfolio. That’s exactly where our project assessment and custom engineering capabilities come in.

We specialize in the design and manufacture of testing equipment for durability, fatigue, impact, wear, and other mechanical testing applications, serving industries such as packaging, automotive, defense, medical, and pharma, among others. Our custom engineered systems help companies evaluate and improve product quality while reliably measuring and recording test results in accordance with applicable international standards, including UNE-EN, DIN, ASTM, ISTA,MIL and ISO.

When your testing needs require a custom approach

Not every product, package, or application fits neatly into a standard testing setup. A company may need to test unusually large or heavy loads, replicate a very specific handling or transport scenario, integrate testing into an existing production line, or comply with a regulatory standard that a catalog machine simply wasn’t built for.

These situations call for the same design and manufacturing standards we apply across every project, from initial analysis through to installation, focused on a solution built specifically for the challenge at hand. That is the purpose of our project assessment and custom engineering services: to bridge the gap between a company’s real testing requirements and the equipment needed to meet them.

This happens in two stages: first understanding exactly what the project requires, then engineering the equipment that meets it.

Project assessment & solution definition

Every project begins with a conversation. Our team works closely with each customer to understand their testing objectives, technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints. That process starts with a thorough needs analysis, carried out remotely or on site depending on what the project requires, and is backed by worldwide support so customers can count on the same level of engineering expertise wherever they operate.

Rather than starting from a generic template, we take the time to understand the specific handling scenarios, product types, and regulatory context behind each request, so the resulting solution is aligned with how the equipment will actually be used.

Custom engineering

Once a project’s requirements are clearly defined, our engineering team moves into the design and manufacturing phase. Every testing challenge is different, so each system is engineered from the ground up around the technical requirements, operational constraints, and testing objectives identified during the assessment phase.

This covers the full lifecycle of the equipment: from initial concept development and detailed design, through precision manufacturing, to complete integration of the system into the customer’s facility. The result is testing equipment built specifically for its intended application, backed by the same manufacturing standards and quality control used across our full product range.

How we work

From the first conversation to long-term support, every custom project follows the same structured process.

This process turns a project that starts as a set of specific requirements into a fully operational, turn-key testing solution, backed by support at every stage.

Analysis

We start by understanding the customer’s testing needs, product characteristics, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints, wherever in the world the project is based.

Design

Our engineering team translates those requirements into a technical concept, defining the mechanical, electrical, and control specifications of the solution.

Manufacturing

The system is built in house, applying the same precision and quality standards used across our full product range.

Testing

Before delivery, each system is tested to confirm it performs as intended and meets the relevant technical and regulatory requirements.

Installation

Our team installs and commissions the equipment on site, ensuring it integrates properly into the customer’s facility and operations.

Training

We train the customer’s team on the operation of the equipment, so they can run tests independently and get the most out of the system.

Maintenance

Our after sales support keeps the equipment running reliably over time, with maintenance services available long after installation.

Success Story: TransPak

TransPak is a pioneer and leader in packaging and logistics solutions for data centers, server racks, and the high tech industry. With decades of experience in the data storage industry, the company packages tens of thousands of fully integrated racks for global deployment every year, offering comprehensive services that include engineered crating and packaging, precision manufacturing, mission critical transportation and logistics, and refurbishment and reuse options.

Its in-house engineering team designs custom packaging and crating systems for servers and data center equipment, drawing on years of vibration and testing data to engineer solutions ranging from shock profiles to metal ramp systems, rack mountings, and busbar mounting brackets.

As distribution environments become more demanding, particularly for high value and sensitive systems, TransPak continuously evaluates how to reinforce its technical capabilities and improve the way its packaging is validated. To support this effort, the company upgraded its own testing laboratory with Safe Load Testing Technologies equipment, strengthening its in-house capabilities for the physical validation of its packaging systems.

Every year, TransPak packages more than 200,000 fully integrated racks for global deployment.
TransPak, a company specializing in packaging engineering and logistics for the transportation of server racks and data center equipment, needed to strengthen the physical validation of its packaging systems within its own laboratory.

Safe Load Testing Technologies worked closely with TransPak’s team to understand the types of products and packaging systems being evaluated, the handling scenarios most relevant to their operations, and the need for repeatability, flexibility, and efficient test execution within the lab. Rather than offering a generic, off the shelf solution, our engineering team designed and manufactured a custom innDrop Drop Tester built specifically around TransPak’s testing objectives, capable of simulating flat, edge, and corner drops, as well as rotational impacts, in line with standards including ASTM D4169, ASTM D7386, and multiple ISTA procedures.

TheDrop Tester was configured to support TransPak’s specific testing objectives rather than relying on a generic solution. Among its benefits are:

  • Reduces the risk of damage caused by accidental drops during loading, unloading, and manual handling
  • Validates the protective performance of packaging under realistic handling conditions.
  • Provides physical evidence to support packaging recommendations and design decisions.
  • Enables direct comparison of alternative packaging designs using the same impact parameters.

By using a drop testing equipment developed specifically for its needs, TransPak ensures that impact validation is aligned with how products are actually handled in real distribution environments.

This step expanded TransPak’s ability to assess packaging and unit load performance under controlled, repeatable, and realistic conditions, directly within its own laboratory—reinforcing both the physical protection of sensitive equipment and the confidence required to support secure, large-scale server transportation worldwide.

Our custom engineering services focus on the design and manufacturing of mechanical testing equipment tailored to specific applications and industries.
