Types of packaging tests

  • Drop testing:

    Drop tests allow evaluating the packaging’s resistance and rigidity against possible accidental drops. Designing packaging resistant to drops may involve adding reinforcements in the corners or choosing different packaging materials (corrugated cardboard, plastics, cork, etc.).

Drop tests are conducted using products from the innDrop family. Depending on the weight of the packaging to be tested, there are two models of drop testers:

  • Compression tests:

    Compression tests allow determining the packaging’s protective capacity and resistance to compression forces. The compresometer evaluates the packaging’s resistance to forces up to 200 kN, simulating the pressure it could experience during the stacking of goods in a warehouse.

Compression tests are conducted using products from the innPress family. The size of the compresometer will depend on the size of the merchandise to be tested, whether it be different-sized boxes or palletized units.

  • Impact tests:

    During the transportation of merchandise, the packaging can suffer different impacts, against the walls of the transport vehicle or other elements, which may affect the integrity of the merchandise. Impact machines allow assessing the potential risk situations where a sudden impact could deform or even break the packaging, affecting the integrity of the merchandise.

Impact tests are conducted using products from the innShock family. The inclined impact machine allows testing boxes of different sizes, as well as palletized loads, using the force of gravity to produce the impact.

  • Vibration tests:

    Vibration tests in packaging allow determining the resistance and protective capacity of the packaging when subjected to transportation vibrations, whether it is during transportation by sea, land, or air. This type of test is carried out using products from the innWave family.

The simulation of vibrations for package shipping can be performed with the rotational vibration machine.
